Making a blog from an economic point of view

Published on Wednesday, 25 February 2009 by Luke Jarzembowski

Blog Lisa Christopher of earning on blogs I follow probably from the beginning. A year ago Chris on blogs earn about 300 zł / mc. Now this is more than 1500 zł, and sometimes months, even exceeds the threshold three thousand zlotys. This result is worthy of envy, but I have one but ...

Anyone who wants to follow in the footsteps of Christopher has to prepare for the difficult beginnings. I myself know how it is, if a few months to work on your website and it brings only a few dollars a month with a dozen AdSense'ai with affiliate programs . Later - when we have a lot of content and a little drumming - the income you can count on hundreds of gold, and direct the work of pull back. However, every project has some its maximum (or optimum) - beyond which hard "pull out" of him more money (or it is not profitable). It was then that should be addressed to the new blog / project and rely on additional income from new niche.

After several such iterations blogger's situation seems to be extremely beneficial - he writes, after only a few dozen / tens of posts per month, and earns a few thousand.

But keep in mind about all the work he has done in the handle to the point where she is present. About these first entries, the first steps of promotion, time and money devoted to study both in the field of which is a blog, as well as marketing and promotion on the Internet.

So when we divide the total income from blogging (total revenues minus total costs - such as hosting, domain, books, ebooks, etc.) by the total number of hours spent on work on a blog (administration, posting, education and development, promotion) - probably the result of did not come out too impressive. Perhaps this is the rate you receive on-time now?

Why, then, making a blog is becoming so popular and can be considered as viable? Well, just as affecting views of 3000 zł per month on account of writing a blog is to some extent an illusion of money (very optimistic anyway), just as the result of eg 20 zł / hour calculated by the methodology of the previous paragraph is only approximately true. For if in the next month to work on a blog or do not spend hours and earnings somehow did not fall dramatically - Your hourly rate probably will increase significantly.

Of course, earnings from your blog can not be considered in the category of passive income and at one point completely stop blogging. However, you can - thanks to a continuous, systematic writing and promotion - to achieve a critical mass beyond which our blog will not require as intensive as in the beginning, and earnings will be as permanent.

This is also why I am I began earning on blogs. I'm going as quickly come to a point fixed, where high earnings from the blog, because the last few years I have written many articles on the blog ChceBycBogaty.pl, and now only I split them into several separate, thematic blogs. Of course this is only the beginning, because of their blogs in the coming months I'm going to make much "of Content". The rest of the reasons for such a change will write another time, and now Count them, or pays you start blogging?

Several months ago, Chris in the summary of their monthly earnings showed a total of 3 500 zł. He also noted that on their blogs written 33 posts (every post is about hours of work), and 2 000 zł this income, which obtained can not accidentally, but they are unlikely to be sustained in the coming months.

So if we subtract from 3 500 2 000 and divide it by 30 - come out rate of about 50 zł / post. It's probably quite a decent salary, but I do not know how much they earn professional journalists or editors of professional magazines.

If your job is not a "piecework" - this result can be compared with their hourly rate (one month of work is approximately 160 hours), or - to make it more interesting - with the time of their productive work. If, for example at work half the time it takes you drink coffee, gossip, solitaire, etc. - his salary (gross) does not divide by 160, but by the 80th

If you work out these calculations that currently earn more than Chris - no need to rush into setting up a blog. But I hope that Christopher, and perhaps I myself (although it does not intend to publish their income from blogging) at some point get a better result and this will motivate you :-)

Getting ready in the nearest future publication of a summary report on the blog my participation in the "From zero to millionaire". It will be a summary of 10 months from the life of one of my blogs. From the date of launch to the end of the contest. It should be fairly well this shows how much work you actually put in to draw money from blogging ...

I also decided to make money on blogs. Like you, I think that's a great way of earning money, but that does not fully agree with what you write this in terms of 'pay' for a post.
Referring to your example - assume that Chris no longer write. Earnings probably will decline over time, but it will not be zero. In fact, so from month to month "salary" for the post increases.
According to your calculations, but now it is 50 zł for a post, but for years it may already be 500 zł for a post.

At least I see it so and that is why I took to be blogging :)

Exactly what I meant. Now this is 50zł/post for the year could be $ 500, etc., but if we take into account the total number of posts and total earnings (from the very start blogging) - it will never be the 50 or 500 zł, which przydażyło in the best month only less (maybe even a lot less!).

Luke, I do not agree with you on the "much less". I can not rich experience in this area, but already have a popup that shows that a specific post earns all the time. Of course, with time he will earn less per month, but total earnings obtained through the post will grow.

For simplicity, assume that to write the article is devoted to one hour. On-time for it be getting about 17 PLN. And how is it on the blog?
In the first month, let's say you have earned 50 PLN, but this does not mean that in oklejnych not earn extra money.

For example, you wrote a book review, of course, with a link partner. Immediately a group of readers bought the book and you have earned some money. In the second month, probably a book after reading this article people will buy less, but the earnings for this particular post will grow over time to grow and after a few years it may be that for this one particular hour of work have earned a few thousand.

A separate issue is the total earnings on the blog, they actually may decrease or grow at different periods of time.

The difference of our views is apparent from various points of view on this subject. Ty looks to the future (IMHO - very predictable), and I look back - from the viewpoint of a specific job performance and income from it.
Of course, you believe that any post (commercial) will be earned for example in the next two years and then come 10zł/mc that this particular hour of your time was worth 240 zł for example.
Note however that if you want to have regular readers, and constant traffic to your blog - you write regularly, not every post will be "commercial".
The time spent on writing "commercial" posts are also your time.
